From hockey games to a night parade and laser show, there is something for everyone to kick off their 2024 in style. Despite the heavy rainfall in December, we anticipate some Minnesota “fluff” very soon. So, buckle up and dive into the adventures awaiting you in Greater St. Cloud! St. Cloud Norsemen Hockey

January 5-6, 19, & 26-27

The Norsemen, a Tier II Junior Hockey team, are members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) and play all of their home games at the Municipal Athletic Complex in St. Cloud. The games are full of energy and excitement, and are complemented by a variety of delicious concessions, drinks, and camaraderie. Moonlit Hike/Ski at Quarry Park 

January 5

Join the annual Moonlight Ski sponsored by the Nordic Ski Club of Central Minnesota and Stearns County Parks! Friday January 6th from 5p – 8p at Quarry Park and Nature Preserve in Waite Park. There’s Free Parking, 4.2 Miles of Scenic Lighted Cross Country Ski Trails, Multiple Bonfires throughout the Park, S’mores, Cookies, Hot Drinks and Door prizes! If snow is not adequate, this will be a hiking event.

Somali Museum of Minnesota Cultural Dance & Music Concert

GREAT is excited to welcome The Somali Museum of Minnesota to the Helgeson Learning Lab Theatre to host this special cultural dance & music concert. Tickets are pick your own price and are required.

Chili Cook-Off

Grey Face Rescue is hosting its 7th Annual Chili Cook-Off at Back Shed Brewing! Enjoy samplings of all sorts of delicious chili for $10 made by local restaurants and businesses, as well as some entrepreneurial individual cooks.

MLK Community Celebration

January 13-17 

The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Celebration is back this January! Join us for an exciting multi-day event held from January 13-17, 2024 at various locations across St. Cloud. In partnership with St. Cloud State University, the city of St. Cloud, and members of the community, this event is free and open to all. However, pre-registration is required to participate. The theme for this year’s program is “Our Beloved Community: Our Work Is Not Yet Done.”

The schedule of events includes: 

Saturday, Jan 13: MLK Everyday Families Celebration at Atwood Memorial Center including kids activities and collection of donations for Pathways 4 Youth, a march at 10:15 and 11:15AM for all ages ending at the planetarium for the “Tour of the Night Sky” show at 10:30 and 11:30am. 

Sunday, Jan 14: MLK Everyday Spirit at 3pm at Jubile Worship Center honoring the traditions of the African-American Church in a worship celebration. 

Monday, Jan 15: Martin Luther King JR. Day is observed on this day. 

MLK Everyday Justice Community Breakfast at River’s Edge Convention Center at 8:15am. The event will include live music, dance, award winners, and keynote speaker Lee Hawkins. Lee Hawkins is an American investigative journalist who’s work documents the lives of Black American descendants of slavery and the intergenerational impact of racial violence and racism. 

Wednesday, Jan 17: MLK Movie night at Paramount Center for the Arts at 7pm showing the film “Selma” which is a chronicle of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s campaign to secure equal voting rights via an epic march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama, in 1965.

The Hit Men of Country

Then you won’t want to miss THE HIT MEN OF COUNTRY at Paramount Center for the Arts, featuring five of the most talented musicians who have toured or recorded with some of the biggest names in country music including Wynonna, Keith Urban, Trace Adkins, Lee Greenwood, Travis Tritt, and Jason Aldean. Get ready for a night to remember!

Bundle up and enjoy free outdoor winter fun for the whole family at Riverside Park! Winter activities include sledding, snowshoeing, Nordic skiing, arts and crafts, prizes and much more. Refreshments and snacks will be provided. Bring your own winter activity equipment from home (snowshoes, skis, sleds, etc.); Some skis and snowshoes will be available for use, while supplies last. Bold & Bright in Downtown St. Cloud is a winter weekend experience for all ages!

Embrace the winter season in all of its glory, with the help of restaurants, an outdoor movie, markets, a night parade, learning how to Curl, and a laser light show! This new event features a little bit of everything, come for the day or spend the whole weekend, you won’t want to miss it! See the full schedule. 

Schedule highlights include:

  • Friday night an Outdoor showing of The Super Mario Bros. Movie at 6pm.
  • Saturday afternoon winter markets featuring crafts and vendors, curling on St. Germain Street with the North Star Curling Club, and ice sculptures. Saturday evening includes a night parade at 5pm followed by a laser light show.
  • End the weekend with brunch on Sunday morning!
