The building located at 703 W St Germain Street was built in 1895. Originally it was home to Thielman Hardware from 1895-1947. This 2 story Queen Anne style yellow brick building is complete with granite trim and a cornice granite block which displays the name Thielman on it. The owner, German born Leonard Thielman moved to St Cloud after the civil war and opened Thielman Hardware on the ground floor of the building. Later when Leo’s son joined the business, it was known as Thielman and Son. The second floor was home to the Sullivan Law office from 1896-1905. Later the building was occupied by Schiff’s Shoe Store, St Cloud Tailor Shop, and Thelen Advertising. This building was added to the national register of historic places and today houses agency Switchboard.
