Greater St. Cloud is known for a few things. It is the hub of the granite mining industry – even known to many as the Granite City. It is the intersection of many throughways, including Interstate 94, Highway 15, Highway 10 and Highway 23. It is home to many fantastic attractions like Munsinger Clemens Gardens, Quarry Park and Nature Preserve, and the Mississippi River. But what you may not realize is that Greater St. Cloud is one of the most energetic live music destinations in the state!
In fact, Greater St. Cloud has been rocking and rolling all through the decades. The Paramount Theater, originally a movie theater known as the Sherman Theatre, opened in 1921 and has withstood the test of time. Today this downtown establishment is a beautifully, ornately remodeled venue for live music, plays, musicals, and more. Akin to the Paramount in age is the Pioneer Place Theatre, which originally operated as an Elks Club in 1913. After housing thousands of shows and going through several renovations (most recently in 2019), the Pioneer Place on Fifth is still an intimate and lively place to watch a musical, rock out to a concert, and more.
Not only does the past hold some amazing entertainment gems in Greater St. Cloud, there are also some fantastic venues that are new to the live entertainment scene. The Ledge Amphitheater opened in summer of 2021 and has seating for up to 6,000 people. Everything from local theater productions to national music acts will grace this stage, which is uniquely positioned outdoors between two former granite mining quarries. Also newer to the game is The Park Event Center, which can seat up to 800 and is a great place not only to meet, but to catch live music performances all year!
Live music is taking stage all year long all over St. Cloud, but especially in the lively downtown area, where there are over 40 bars and restaurants within walking distance of the River’s Edge Convention Center. It’s built-in entertainment for your attendees! Let Visit Greater St. Cloud help you plan a live music crawl from venue to venue, or utilize the Visit Greater St. Cloud app to create a fun live music scavenger hunt! No matter what you have in mind, you will have a rocking-good time with your event in Greater St. Cloud.
