Meet the CVB: Rachel Thompson

When asked what animal she is most like, Rachel Thompson says “I would be a duck. When ducks are swimming they appear calm on the surface, but under the water they are working really hard.”

Rachel was formerly in the Sales and Services Coordinator position, but she now she’s a Sales Manager, and works on convention sales in the Association and Medical markets. As the saying goes in the industry, there’s an association for everything, which always keeps her job fun and interesting. She helps sell the St. Cloud area to groups who are looking to book meetings, conventions and more in the perfect location. Rachel loves building relationships with new clients loves the travel industry, because every day is different and exciting, and never lets her feathers get ruffled.

Rachel grew up in St. Cloud, and while attending the University of Wisconsin – Stout for Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Management, she worked for University Catering & Housing, and at the Remington Lab helping to manage Remington hotel properties. After graduating, Rachel worked as an event coordinator at The Enchanted Barn in Hillsdale, WI, and locally at Munsinger & Clemens Gardens and the St. Cloud Country Club before starting at Visit Greater St. Cloud in August of 2015.

When she’s not keeping us all in line at the office, you can find Rachel sinking some balls in billiards, kickin’ her feet up at the family BBQ, furthering her already amazing DIY skills in crafting and sewing, or enjoying her favorite season – Fall – with the crisp air that just begs for a football game or a day of baking. Rachel and her husband Jesse are constantly entertained by the antics of their two dogs, Elle the Black Lab and Aspen the Great Pyrenees aka Polar Bear. Self-identified as short, blonde and sarcastic, Rachel is a pickle fanatic – she even had a pickle bar at her wedding!

Rachel loves working at Visit Greater St. Cloud to showcase the abundance of activities in the diverse and alive communities we live. From the arts, breweries, restaurants, parks, shops, and trails – there is something to do every day. Let Rachel help your group experience St. Cloud to the fullest – and have a lot of fun along the way!
