Its no secret that attendees want personal connections and human interactions when they attend meetings and conventions but the trick we have as planners is how to do so safe and cost effectively. Below are some ideas that our office can help facilitate at your next event in Greater St. Cloud. We have included some mindful activities for your hybrid events and virtual attendees.

Promote these activities to your attendees with minimal additional effort from you, or use these as an extra revenue source and get your sponsors involved!

  • Mural Crawl (in person attendees)
    • Use the Visit Greater St. Cloud App to “check in” at each mural. Check into a set amount of murals to get a prize.
    • Check out the St. Cloud Area Public Art that could be included on this crawl: Click here
      • BONUS: allow one of your sponsors to be a part this crawl by having their booth be one of the check in locations and supply the prizes.
  • Walk/Run 5K (In person/Hybrid attendees)
    • Use the Visit Greater St. Cloud App or website to have attendees submit their photo and/or race time
    • Routes are available surrounding St. Cloud venues. Note: attendees would need to follow all traffic laws as these courses are not closed off for the race.
    • Virtual event attendees could also participate by using a route near their houses.
    • All participants would receive a digital “swag bag” of deals/promotions from area fitness businesses.
      • BONUS:  List this as an opportunity for one of your sponsors to be included in the swag bag and get their information in front of all the 5K participants.
    • Winners could be announced on stage during the last day of conference as bragging rights/recognition.
      • BONUS: Let the sponsor have a few minutes of stage time by a short business plug and then announcing the 5K winners and show the pictures that were submitted during this announcement.
  • Keep it simple: Shop downtown! (in person/hybrid attendees)
    • Visit Greater St. Cloud can supply you with a map of downtown businesses and special offerings for your group.
    • This is a great way to get attendees out and about with out timeframe restraints.
    • Allow virtual attendees to participate with shopping online!
  • Downtown Pub Crawl (in person attendees)
    • Coordinate with local businesses to create a special drink or Appetizer for your attendees 
    • Collect stamps from each location & earn a prize upon completion.
      • BONUS: Have partners sponsor this by hosting a stop along the way and getting networking time with attendees.  
  • Sidewalk Chalk Art (in person/hybrid attendees)
    • Please make sure to notify or work with us on this event as we need to notify the city on dates this would take place
    • Attendees would get buckets of chalk at the registration area to use to create works of art on sidewalks surrounding the meeting facility.
      • Virtual attendees would be encouraged to use chalk they have at home and create a drawing near their household.
    • Upon completion of their project they would submit their artwork by taking a picture of it and uploading it to a contest page, we can help with this.
    • Photos could then be judged for a winner by putting them on the events Facebook page and which ever photo got the most “likes” wins!
      • BONUS: Get a sponsor for this event and let them theme the drawings or let them be the judge and announce the winner on stage.

 

 

Attendees or Planners would need to pre register for these events. Payment for activities offered would be handled directly from the businesses website. Event Planners can choose to pay for the event for their attendees or ask the attendee to pay individually if they wish to participate.

  • MAKE & TAKE:
    • Planters (in person attendees)
      • Green Thumb etc. offers a planting party. Create your own plant/pot masterpiece with some easy and fun instruction.
      • Approx. $50 per person and you must pre-register.
        • This includes instruction, materials, take home plant/pot, and snacks
      • Timeframe: 1 hour
      • Small groups of 10 would be allowed at a time in their studio with current capacity limits. Multiple classes could be offered in a row with sanitization in-between.
      • Bring this into your event space to increase amount of participants allowed at a time.
    • MMG Workshop (in person attendees)
      • MMG Workshop is a DIY wood project and pallet painting experience.
      • Pricing varies depending upon the project chosen (expect about $40 per person.)
      • Timeframe: 3 1/2 hours
      • The mobile workshop will come to the host venue and all supplies are provided.
      • Minimum of 12 people
  • Buy a ticket! (in person/hybrid attendees)
    •  Rox Baseball Game
      • Schedule is slotted to come out Spring 2021
      • Watch the game from a far, Rox Baseball streams their games online for your virtual attendees!
    • Go to a show – Pioneer Place Theater or Paramount Theater
      •  Tap into an existing show and promote attendees to purchase a ticket, or reserve a whole show for your group!
      • Theaters are offering great virtual shows and performances currently, take a look at offering this for your virtual attendees.
    • Golf
      • Have open Tee Times at a local golf course for attendees to reserve
  • Experience the Flavors of St. Cloud (in person/hybrid attendees)
    •  Your attendees can pre-buy boxes containing items from the St. Cloud Area to explore in their hotel rooms, or bring home. Attendees will get the boxes on the day of your event near registration or a coordinated time of pickup. Day of purchase is not available.  Below are some examples of items that could be included in the box. This add-on costs $50 and would be ran by Visit Greater St. Cloud. Shipping to Virtual attendees would be additional.
      o Millners wine/craft beer
      o Local snacks (popcorn, pretzels, etc)
      o Maple Syrup
      o Jam/preserves & Johnny Bread
      o Coffee or tea
  • Trivia Ninjas (in person)
    •  Trivia Ninjas is a fun and interactive spin on classic trivia night
    • Limited participation per trivia team
    • This would be hosted at a Restaurant/bar near your event space
    • Cost would depend on time/location
  • Axe Throwing (in person)
    •  United States Axe offers a mobile unit for throwing at your event. They also have a location to host your event at.
    • Participation is staggered using tickets to avoid lines and promotes social distancing
    • Cost would depend on time/location
  • Escape Room (in person/hybrid attendees)
    • St. Cloud Escape Rooms has launched virtual escape rooms! 
    • Group size flexibility with online platform 
    • Cost for group starts at $125
