|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 5:30 pm on Tuesday, repeating until September 4, 2019

Interested in improving your health and fitness? Everyone in the community is welcome to join our SCHEELS Bike Club! We offer 4 ride options every Wednesday evening leaving our SCHEELS parking lot at 5:30pm*. They encompass EVERY type of cyclist. From families that want a social cruise on the trail, to the amateurs training to upgrade their UCI racing license. We host this weekly event as a way for the community to come together and work toward a higher standard of health and wellness…AND have a blast along the way!

The four rides; ‘A’ Competitive, ‘B’ Fitness, ‘C’ Social, ‘D’ Novice/Family
‘A’ Competitive Ride
Is a race paced ride for advanced cyclists. It is planned to be around 45-50 miles and will average between 22-25 mph. This ride is a ‘drop’ ride with plenty of hard efforts and accelerations. If you are not sure if you can hold the pace, the ‘B’ ride is a good place to start. Be sure to study the routes/roads in case you find yourself surrounded by trees or cows somewhere in Stearns County 😀Led by Grady, Assistant Store Leader

“B” Fitness Ride
It is designed for intermediate riders looking to improve their fitness. It will be easy for some and difficult for others. This is a ‘NO drop ride’ so the average pace of 18-20 mph and mileage of 35-40 will be consistent. There are plenty of experienced riders and new riders here. You will work together in pace lines, echelons, and learn what those are to begin with! This group will not intentionally leave you behind. Most of the routes depart and arrive on the same roads. Some from this group start with the A ride until they are dropped and fall back to the B ride. A great idea to test your legs. Led by Ben, Bike and Fitness Manager

“C” Social Ride
This group typically averages 14-17 mph and rides around 25-30 miles. Perfect for learning new roads/routes safely in a group setting. This is a really fun bunch of people exploring how bikes can change lives. Also a ‘NO drop ride’ but tends to split into two groups. One goes a little faster and one takes their time and soaks in all the scenery. Led by Collin, Bike Manager.

“D” Novice/Family
This group rides at relaxing pace of 10-12 mph and no more then 12 miles. Josh looks for ways to get away from cars and likes to use the new spur onto the Lake Wobegon Trail. Families looking for an active night out, or if putting a few miles on your hybrid or beach cruiser sounds good, this is the perfect ride for you. This race leaves the store at 6:00 pm* Led by Josh. Each week we will post the new routes in our SCHEELS Bike Club Event Page.
