Though Millstream has been cancelled for another year, the festival this year will be shaped around the cultural concept of a funky New Orleans night market with the help of and collaboration with local business owners with New Orleans roots. Rather than a one-day festival, the new format will be that of a smaller, weekly event (Monday nights).

The venue for the night market will be the charming alley next to Krewe Restaurant and Flour & Flower French Bakery in St. Joseph across College Ave N from Bad Habit Brewery.

Expect a relaxed, laid-back vibe with string lights overhead, small musical ensembles set up on the sidewalk with tables and chairs and artist booths sprinkled here and there along the alley next to Krewe Restaurant and the bakery. Music will feature a range of genre from Dixeyland to the eclectic. There may even be small street performances. Food offerings will include artisan pizzas from Flour & Flower, delicious burgers and handcrafted cocktails from Krewe, handmade ice creams from Jupiter Moon, and craft beers from Bad Habit on their patio. 

Millstream Night Market will give artists a venue to display and sell their work to an interested audience. All artwork is juried, which provides a higher level of quality, diversity and creativity of art on display, exemplifying the gifted artists in the region. The art criteria that has been used with Millstream Arts Festival will remain, but we are also open to more earthy, funky work to complement the new venue and vibe. 

Artists’ fees are used to produce the remaining events. Crowd numbers are estimated at over 1,000. Participation is open to all artists working in basketry, ceramics, fibers, handmade paper, glass, jewelry, leather, metal, wood, mixed media, original two-dimensional fine arts, and literary arts. Because of the smaller scale of the event, only 8-9 artist booths will be featured each week, though artists are invited to participate in up to three markets over the course of the summer.
