Join Outdoor U educators and special guests on five designated hikes using the Nature of Saint John’s field guide. Along the hikes we’ll highlight various topics from the book chapters with interpretive talks and “reading the landscape.” Participants are encouraged to read the book excerpts prior to each hike. No registration or fees. Open to the public and family friendly. Please leave dogs and bikes home; they are not allowed in the Abbey Arboretum.
Hike #1: Prairie Wetland and Savanna Trails

Hike #3: Deep Woods Trail
Wednesday, November 6: Meet at the sugar shack
3-4 mile hike. Pages 95-130 of The Nature of Saint John’s.

Hike #4: Chapel Trail
Saturday, December 14: Meet at the Abbey Bell Banner
3-4 mile hike. Pages 65-93 of The Nature of Saint John’s.

3-4 mile hike. Pages 155-179 of The Nature of Saint John’s. There is the possibility to ski/snowshoe if there is interest and conditions allow.
