Have Fun Learning How to Research Your Norwegian Ancestry – Canceled

March 17 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

***Due to current public health concerns around COVID-19, this event has been canceled***

Join Jean Marthaler as she shares information about conducting Norwegian research. The presentation will tell you how to start your research and show you a variety of resources available such as online census records, online Digitized Parish Records, Norway maps, farm history books called bygdebøker.

If you have Norwegian ancestry you are among the luckiest people in the world. Norway has a lot of online records and a myriad of resources available to use for ancestral homes in Norway.

Jean always feels we are honoring our ancestors by being interested in where they came from and how they lived. Jean has always been interested in her own family history and has ancestry from 6 areas of Norway. She loves doing Norwegian research every day and it is a wonderful pastime.

She is fortunate to be a tour guide and genealogist for Brekke Tours in Grand Forks, ND. She has helped hundreds of people with their research and has been to Norway 19 times. Being the guide on the tours means she has the honor of doing research for people on the tours and getting them to their ancestral farms and churches. Many times, they meet cousins in Norway. It is a blessing for her to be able to do this.

Free for members, goodwill donation for non-members of St. Cloud Area Genealogists. Event takes place at Stearns History Museum.
