CSBSJU Tournées Film Festival: “I Am Not Your Negro”

January 21 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

The College of St. Benedict and St. John’s University (CSBSJU) is hosting a film festival reflecting the variety and beauty of (mostly) French cinema. Events are free for all!

The Tournées Film Festival at the College of St. Benedict and St. John’s University is showing the film “I Am Not Your Negro” as a part of MLK Week at CSBSJU. “I Am Not Your Negro” is based on James Baldwin’s unfinished book “Remember This House.” In this book, he was to share his personal account of the lives and assassinations of three of his friends: Medgar Evers, Martin Luther King Jr., and Malcolm X. In the film, director Raoul Peck tells the story James Baldwin was not able to finish. The event will start with an introduction from Brandyn Woodard, the Director of Intercultural and International Student Services (IISS) at CSBSJU, the Coordinator of Intercultural LEAD, and the Co-Director of the Mellon Grant Becoming Community. A discussion led by Mr. Woodard will follow the screening of the film. This event is sponsored by the CSBSJU Department of Languages and Cultures and IISS and FREE FOR ALL!
